Benchmade Grizzly Ridge AXIS Lock Knife (3.5") 15061

This is what a pocket folder should be, and is worth every cent

This one hell of a edc pocket folder, and worth every penny. I have been carrying a folding pocket knife every day for about 25 years now. I traditionally opt to spend more money on fixed blades ($100-$200)and usually stick with around the 50 dollar range for pocket folders, since i usually just beat on them pretty bad and occassionally lose/misplace them....

Before this purchase tho, I had been carrying the same folder for 5 years or so, and thought, "ah what the hell, I'm going to spring for something better".....no regrets here whatsoever. One handed operation is very smooth and easy, and the notorious "axis lock" pretty much makes this thing bombproof, and seems damn close to being a fixed blade. I am a machinist by trade, and have a very keen eye for any type of imperfections and quality/construction of things like this. I have to say, benchmade nailed it with this blade and I will most certainly be buying more of their knives in the future. Not a single flaw to be found on this knife. Shaving sharp out of the box, easy to get that shaving sharp back when touching up with some ceramic, it's a work art.

I really like the grip on this knife, the rubbery texture combined with the harder plastic scales....I don't think it would be possible to lose grip when doing anything wet. I do love the color scheme too, down to the little orange spacers that show when clipped in pocket.

My first benchmade has lived up to all of my expectations (and all of the online hype ive read over the years) and is of incredible quality. I will not be going back to 50 dollar folders ever again, this is what a pocket folder knife should be.

Great knife

The grey part of the handle is a rubber-like substance which make it very grippy. The orange part just feels like hard plastic. The blade itself is very sharp and opens smoothly. The lock is very secure and easy to disengage.

This is my first Benchmade knife and I like it very, very much.

Just about perfect EDC

I would consider this just about as perfect of a EDC knife as my previous EDC ( Rat 1). To be honest my only gripe with this knife is its grip-y scales. Its a grivory base, overmolded with a rubbery texture, in hand its awesome. But trying it get back in my pocket it gets stuck to my pocket. Thats a minor issue along with the recurve on the blade which makes the knife a little harder to resharpen. The came fairly sharp with a rather coarse grind, i resharpened mines immediatly and its a whole lot better now.
Pros:
Great steel ( resharpened: this knife is a razor and holds a great edge)
Smooth action
Fits in pocket really well
Nice in hand feel
Great fit and finish
Has a good weight to it

Cons:
Sticky when trying to get it back into pocket
Recurve is difficult to sharpen
Not a deep carry ( personal preference)
Knife is priced at the higher end of an entry level benchmade
