Another nice EDC from Benchmade

I never have been a Tanto blade fan and have been on the fence about this knife purchase. I finally pulled the plug and am happy to say I am pleased. The knife is super light, centers perfectly, comes pretty sharp, opens smoothly and has Benchmade's awesome proprietary Axis lock system. I haven't used the Bailout 537 enough to give it a thorough review but think it is somewhat similar to the Benchmade Bugout. The knife can take a beating during NORMAL every day usage. However, this is not the knife that will take a severe beating during use. It has very short liners, to keep the weight (2.1oz) down, I believe. With the liners being so short all the stress goes into the handles and this is my big concern when using it hard EDC.

I do really like the looks and hopefully it will fulfill my normal EDC.

Wrong name, Right knife!

I don’t believe they chose an appropriate name for this knife... not at all. But the name is the only thing wrong here. It’s an amazing blade with pretty great QC (I know, out of character). It’s thin, slicey and so far pretty tough. I would never rely on it in a “survival” scenario. It’s a thin blade, thin scales but well constructed for an everyday carry blade. It weighs nothing. No hot spots. The axis lock broke in pretty quick (I may have helped it along the way) and is butter. The blade is free swinging now. No stick. Edge retention has been good. I cut a crap ton of cardboard, whittled on a bunch of wood. Still slicing paper and just out of shaving. (I did put my own 16 degree edge on it straight out of the box) it’s just a great knife and I don’t regret the purchase.
