DESCRIPTION

The Osprey Exos 38 is so light that you’ll want to tether it when it’s not strapped to your back. Everything about this pack is featherweight, starting with the mesh Airspeed™ Suspension which stabilizes the load and simultaneously provides maximum airflow for high-output ventilation. An ExoForm™ hipbelt and shoulder harness combine for all-day carrying comfort.

Osprey designers built this pack from light but durable 100D High Tenacity nylon and added superlight YKK zippers. Along with ultra-light materials, the top lid is removable, as are all external straps to shave a few more ounces. The integrated Flapjacket™ remains to protect your gear if the weather turns nasty.

Mesh side pockets with InsideOut™ compression combine storage and stability. The front stretch mesh pocket gives you quick access to a map or an extra layer. Two zippered hipbelt pockets keep snacks and essentials secure.

The pack includes an ice axe attachment loop in case you’re in the mood to blitzkrieg an alpine adventure. External cord tie-off points give you the option to lash on additional gear.

A Backpack to Sing About

Now here is a backpack just my size. I am a small person and while I have done my fair share of backpacking over the years, I have usually had to do it with a back pack sized for someone else. While not quite hobbit sized, I am short and proportionately narrow as well. I bought my husband an Osprey Exos 48 liter backpack for Christmas, He liked it so well, I decided to treat myself. I like almost everything about it except for the pockets on the front of the hip belt that are much smaller than necessary. I like a lot of things at my fingertips when I go awalking, and these pockets are not capacious enough to suit me. Furthermore, I would prefer that backpack makers in general would make them or at least parts of them waterproof. (I can and will use a sturdy plastic bag, but how inelegant) Otherwise this backpack makes me sing. It fits me every which way. It is very lightweight, it moves with me. It carries just enough, never too much. If you should spot me in the wilderness, I'll be the one dancing ahead while lesser mortals stumble and sweat.
