In the November 2008 issue of Blade Magazine, there was a very interesting article titled "Big Bad Bush Knives" The associate editor Brendan O’Brien said the following:

"Armageddon from TOPS and Trace, while I don’t consider the Armageddon a true machete, it can serve as one."

"The idea was a cross between a machete and a large camp or chopping knife. Most Machetes are made from thin stock and not intended to cut things much thicker than vines and foliage. The Armageddon is 1/4" thick but with the full-flat-ground-re-curved blade. It will do most chores as well as other heavier tasks like chopping wood or building a shelter. 'Basically, this is more of a North American version of a machete,' says Trace Rinaldi, designer of the Armageddon from TOPS Knives."

sheath, eh

Love this knife very much except..
The sheath leaves a bit to be desired as the knife, which is quite heavy and large, easily slips in and out of the sheath. It feels as if something is broken or cracked in the sheath itself.

Ultimate bushman knife. sheath, eh.

This knife in my opinion is the best outdoors all purpose knife on the market. I had been looking for a long time to find a knife for ultimate outdoors survival. At first, the price definitely through me off but after looking at the ESEE Junglas I realized that was almost as expensive as the Armageddon. Plus the Junglas doesn't have the right balance point and no re-curve in the blade and the Armageddon is 1/4 inch thick steel almost all the way up to the tip. The one bad thing about the Armageddon is the sheath, I am currently making a sheath out of leather anyways, but the sheath is such a POS, It has Velcro instead of snaps or buckles and the stitching started to come apart the first day I used it. Never the less the knife is a must buy. I have no doubt this knife will last me and my future children for generations to come, but everyone is different so do your own research before making a decision on which knife you want to buy especially an expensive one. Overall, even though the sheath sucks, this knife is a dream come true.

TOPS Armageddon Knife

This knife is great. The first thing I did was go out to my yard and begin clearing a fence which had been overgrown with vines. This beast made this job as much fun as it could be. I was cutting through vines as thick as my thumb with a single swing. Sometimes, it took more than a few blows depending on the angle, where on the blade it hit, what resistance etc. Lighter in the hand than it appears (well balanced).Very little hand fatigue (I was wearing gloves) and no hotspots noticed. It was a blast. Afterwards, I took the knife cleaned it n the sink, dried and oiled it. A couple of strokes on a ceramic rod and it was sharper then when I got it. It was as new. I am not technically savvy, but I agree with another reviewer that the grind is flat such as one may find on a hatchet or other hacking tool. Despite this, it cuts well in finer jobs especially if one uses the choil and grips up and uses a pushing motion. I plan to pack this knife when carrying multiple tools may not be possible. It does the job of both an axe, machete and large knife. Like all muti-use tools however, there are compromises. No, you do not want to use this to take down a tree, but it does more things well than most. Love the sheath with two pockets. One for fire kit and another for a smaller knife or stone for me. If you were to put me on a desert island tomorrow and tell me I could only have one knife, this would be it.
