Reate K-1 Flipper Knife 3.875" M390 Satin Blade Bronze Titanium Handles with Carbon Fiber
Reate Knife with the K-1 flipper stands alongside some of the best Steelcraft Series from Todd Begg as an ultra-premium folder worth your consideration. From the stunning looks to the tough build quality yet perfectly ergonomic form factor, this knife has blown us away. We can't recommend it highly enough and Reate has created a version just for you.
The premium K-1 flipper is built to perform as good as it looks. The 3.875" drop point blade has a brushed satin finish, a deep hollow grind for maximum sharpness, and a crowned spine for comfort during use. The internally lightened titanium handles are inlaid with long strips of carbon fiber that are a simple yet effective way of transforming the looks of this Solo Jack design. It's contoured or chamfered in all the right places and its shape fits perfectly in the hand for comfortable prolonged cutting. The K-1 comes complete with a replaceable lockbar insert/overtravel arrestor, Todd Begg ceramic ball titanium pocket clip, and half-length titanium backspacer. This is our favorite Reate Design thus far and one we think is definitely up there with the best custom and production knives in the business.
At Reate Knives, they always aim to make the highest-quality knives possible as well as to always try new things. This is their first time using RWL-34 stainless steel on their knives which made by Damasteel Company. RWL-34 is a martensitic stainless Rapid Solidified Powdered (RPS) steel which is a variation of the 420 martensitic stainless steel with >13% Chromium. The addition of Molybdenum and Vanadium gives the RWL-34 even greater corrosion resistance, hardness, and strength. It is a close equivalent to 154CM.
Reate Knives also performs one important technique—the Freeze Edging Skill. As the final process for a blade, edging has a great effect on the performance of the knives, after all, the edge part is the main function area when using a knife. Normally, edging is operated on a high-speed running grinding wheel or grinding belt, which produces a very high temperature. Without a cooling system, the temperature on the edge goes up instantly to hundreds of degrees centigrade, when it gets worse, it will burn and leave heat marks on the blade. Tempering or even annealing will happen on an area of the edge where the temperature increasing instantly. It will harm the hardness and durability of the blade. That's why some knives passing the hardness standard test but still easily get worn in actual use.
