Blacksmithing & Knife Making Class (Nov 2nd 2024)
Bladesmithing is the art of making knives, swords, daggers and other blades using a forge, hammer, anvil and other smithing tools. At NORTH RIVER OUTDOORS, we carry thousands of custom and production knives from hundreds of brands and frequently get asked how to forge and make knives.
We are excited to offer an awesome Blacksmithing & Knife Making Workshop! Join fellow Blacksmith, Greg Campbell for this popular event at NORTH RIVER OUTDOORS and learn how to forge your own railroad spike knife! Each Student will be trained and work hands-on with a forge and anvil! Well also will be blade profiling and sharpening on professional 2 x 72 belt grinder.
Workshop Cost $95 and must use the sign-up/pay on the link below. Class Limited to 10 Students and held in two time slots. We will be forging in two groups. Please select your time slot with only 5 student total allowed per group to ensure maximum time forging and safety. Blacksmith class is held outside of NORTH RIVER OUTDOORS. If all spots are reserved, you the signup link will be grayed out and marked as sold out. Please use the "notify me when in-stock" if we have a cancelation.
Included in cost is the use of Knife Forging Tools, Safety Gear & Training. Eye and Ear protection is also included in the cost and will be provided to students. All attendees should wear all natural cotton and relax clothing during this all day workshop to maximize their experience.
Instructor:
Greg Campbell is owner and operator of Cur Custom Blades. Greg began knifemaking 10 years ago in the Richmond, Virginia area and hasn’t looked back. He makes both custom and production knives of all kinds, everyday carry, bushcraft, bowie, choppers, drop point hunters and various Japanese style chef knives. You will find him working in the shop downtown at the Shockoe Valley Manufacturing Building where he is part of the Hardway Workshop. He has regularly taught knifemaking since 2018 and enjoys sharing his passion and experience in knifemaking in the schools from time to time as well. When he isn’t in the shop, you will find him in the lab at Virginia Commonwealth University where he is a lab manager and scientist or at home surrounded by his wife, three girls and all their pets!
