Spyderco Tenacious Folding Knife 3-3/8" Combo Blade, G10 Handles

Being tenacious means holding fast, having persistence and cohesiveness. It means being tough, tireless and consistent. The knife industry seems to be leaning toward manufacturing inexpensive, average made knives that are dressed up like high performance pieces, retailing under sixty dollars. Identifying and sidestepping these mid-class knives can be vexing to end-line-users. Rest assured, Spyderco's tenaciously adhered to their manufacturing quality standards. G-10 handle resists elements and is ergonomically milled for continuous fatigue-free use. Walker LinerLock with jimped liner. Lined lanyard, full skeletonized steel liners. Fit, finish and features you’d expect on a hundred dollar folder. The Tenacious is one of Spyderco's best dollar value knives, and one of their top sellers.

Everyone Has a Spyderco, this 3 3/8" Blade Tenacious is a Good Start!

I just had to see what all the hype about Spyderco is, so I got a Tenacious for myself.
I chose my perfect preferences of a partially serrated blade for extreme cutting power of any rough material like rope or a tomato plant, and the matching color of a black blade with additional coating.
The knife seems to be high quality, with no noticable blade play when it's in any position open, closed, in between. I like that. The materials all seem high quality.
The one-handed thumb hole opening is their signature thing, and it's okay, for me. But I'm so used to touching a flipper like on a Kershaw, or flipping a thumb stud like on a Benchmade, or a cheaper Boker offshore cheaper: Boker Plus or HK Boker, you touch it, it's open, that the Spyderco seems like a niche market with plenty of devotees. Now I have one in my collection of brands, and I'll use it as an EDC in rotation with my current favorites, a Kershaw flipper, a Benchmade Axis 551, and a SOG Flash 1 (again, barely move the thumb stud, smack! it's locked open effortlessly). I'll see if I get used to slowly opening with the thumb hole. Honestly, I've been grabbing the thumbhole and flicking the handle downward to snap it open in a fraction of a second instead of waiting for my thumb to slowly open the blade. That works much more efficiently. All my blades are over 3" and this is also 3 3/8 " blade, the perfect size for my pocket. The pocket clip is nice, but SOG wins "deep carry" hands down. You cannot see the knife with a SOG pocket clip. I've seen reviews of it that say "it's too light; it's plastic" about the SOG, but so's an M-16. My SOG has similar qualities; never broken, still operates sharply. I expect the same from the Spyderco, a high-quality looking piece of equipment.

its a winner.

After loosing my $250 benchmade this was the replacement. Before you go jumping to conclusions...the benchmade was an AWESOME knife! But heres my thing...this knife (its still pretty new) I can buy/loose 5-6 of these before I'm upside down on losing 1 benchmade. I don't work with my knife for a living, nor does it put food on my table for my family (unless I kill something with it), and if I had to rely on a knife to do such, then MAYBE ....I mean MAYBE then I'd spend another $250+ on another knife. But I'm a every day carry kind of guy and its either on me or in my truck. So far this knife does everything that I need to do, and so far I don't see it coming up short anytime soon. Its tight and its sharp as heck... and for the guy who "just needs a pocket knife to cut random s**t" its a winner.... ESPECIALLY for $49!
