ZT 0562CF Hinderer Knife Carbon Fiber

The cousin of the 0562, this ZT features the same special Rick Hinderer flat-ground “slicer” grind that provides both slicing efficiency and a tough point, but on a CPM-20CV powdered steel blade.

CPM-20CV has a high volume of vanadium carbides and a high amount of chromium. You get exceptional edge retention and outstanding corrosion resistance.

The 0562CF’s handle has a carbon fiber front scale and stonewashed titanium back. For secure lock up during use, ZT uses a frame lock with hardened steel lockbar inserts and lockbar stabilization.

The knife opens with a flipper and moves out of the handle on our smooth KVT ball-bearing opening system. A washer with caged ball bearings surrounds the pivot and makes opening the knife nearly frictionless; just pull back on the flipper and add a roll of the wrist and the 0562CF is ready for action.

The unique pocketclip is reversible (left/right) and enables extra-deep carry in the pocket.

An American Classic!

Two weeks into my purchase of the ZT 0562cf and I have nothing but praise, for the knife as well as North River Outdoors. The purchase was quick and easy, while the knife itself is great in hand, quick to deploy with the flipper, and capable of any EDC task you can throw at it. Thanks to North River Outdoors for offering this knife at a great price. Thank you!

Big but not overbearing with an excellent blade

1) Blade. This is pretty much a standard drop point. The blade is nicely ground thin. It's not Sypderco thin, but thinner than your typical ZT blade. While the blade will take quite a lot of abuse, you're not going to be able to pry open a stuck M1 Abrams crew hatch like you normally could with most ZTs.

The blade came shaving sharp. Nothing new there. All ZTs come that way. Hell, most KAIs or any decent knives come that way (see Benchmade also), so not unusual. The finish is beautiful. The grind finish runs from the spine to the edge and is nicely done. The thickness is good for general purposes. I would never pry or baton with it, but I am not going to be afraid to use the thing.

The blade is wide enough to give a safe pinch grip right to the tip, allowing very precise use. I often use blades this way so I appreciate the width of the blade and the way it comes to a strong point.

2) Handle. I got the carbon fiber. Finish is smooth and well chamfered. The knife fits the hand well and feels good to use. The metal side has an indent which seems to catch on my pocket when I draw the knife. It's a small annoyance. I am not sure why it's there.

3) Clip. It's a clip. It does it's job. Not sure what to say about that. It keeps my knife from falling out of my pants and it looks OK. It's deep carry which means none of the knife sticks out of my pocket. I appreciate that. Deep carry means that it's also harder to access. That's the price you pay for carrying a large but discrete knife.

4) Action. The flip action on this knife is legendary. I don't know what more I can say about it. The detent holds it firmly in place in the closed position , until just enough pressure is applied. Then SNAP. It opens and it feels like it just falls into place. The lock is positive and easily released, and the blade closes with no resistance or crunchy spots in rotation. It closes with an authoritative click and it's not going anywhere until you want it to.

This knife is awesome!

I am very impressed with this knife. Fit and finish on this thing is perfect. The detent was a little on the strong side out of the box, but breaks in nicely. Pretty easy to do because I can't put it down. I did quite a bit of research and comparison before getting this knife, and am not disappointed. I think this is the best knife out there at this price point.
